What
is a transcript?
At HFCC, Registration
& Records maintain the official permanent academic record of
every student who attends the College. This record is known as a
transcript and is updated as grades are received.
Is
there only one type of transcript?
There are two
types of academic college transcripts - "Official" and "Issued to
Student". They both contain the same information.
An official transcript is a transcript sent directly
from HFCC to an external agent such as another college or your employer.
An official transcript is not sent to you. You may not mail or carry
official transcripts to other institutions or employers. An official
transcript is printed on transcript paper and bears the impression
of the HFCC Seal.
You may receive
an "Issued to Student" transcript on transcript
paper but the "Issued to Student" stamp prevents it from being considered
"Official".
Academic institutions
and employers who require you to personally provide a transcript
with your admission form or employment application will accept a
transcript marked "Issued to Student" for interviewing purposes.
An official transcript probably will be required after admission
or employment.
This policy
is to protect the integrity of student records and assure their
accuracy.
How
do I request a copy of my transcripts?
- Transcripts can be requested by letter (sent via USPS or fax) or
in-person (by filling out a form at Registration).
- All requests must be in writing.
- All requests require a legal signature from the student for
release.
- Transcripts will not be released for students who have outstanding financial obligation to the college.
- Transcript requests are processed in the order in which they are received. The normal processing time is two business days, however, during peak times and registeration, this time period may be longer.
- Your transcript is the record of your accepted transfer credit and your classes at HFCC. This entire document will be sent. Partial transcripts are not issued.
- Transcripts from other schools are not issued. These must be obtained directly from that institution.
Requests made by letter should contain the following information:
- Your name (please type or print)
- Previous names while attending HFCC
- Current address and telephone number
- Social Security number or student ID number
- Date of birth
- Approximate date of last attendance
- Your signature
